Life Between Scissors and Skylines: My Journey as a Private Hairdresser

Being a private hairdresser means no two weeks ever look the same, and that’s exactly how I like it.

Every five weeks, I pack my kit and head to Sydney, where a loyal group of clients awaits. The city has its own rhythm, fast, polished, and constantly evolving. I love tapping into that energy, catching up with my clients (many of whom have become dear friends), and creating styles that suit their fast-paced lives.

Then it’s back to the calm of the Byron hinterland, where the days go slower and the vibe is more laid-back. Here, I work with clients who appreciate natural beauty, effortless texture, and that sun-kissed, lived-in look. It’s a beautiful balance between two worlds, urban edge and coastal ease.

Being on the move keeps me inspired. It’s not always glamorous, early flights, packed schedules, hauling my gear, but it’s real, and it’s mine. And whether I’m styling in a high-rise apartment or a rainforest retreat, one thing stays the same: I’m helping people feel more like themselves, one haircut at a time.
